5 Cute and Comfy Must-Have Pieces for Your Winter Wardrobe 2020

Winter comes with very few advantages, as the days become shorter and the temperature drops, it’s understandable that all we want to do is drink gallons of herbal tea and stay in watching the latest subpar Netflix original, I’m looking at you Emily in Paris. However, one of the blessings that this season bestows upon us is being able to stay cosy and remarkably stylish all at the same time. With an uncertain future, where we may all be back into lockdown or celebrating Christmas Eve at the pub, it’s important to be ready for all circumstances.

With that in mind, one must stay extra snug this winter but also be able to rush out of the house at a moment's notice for an impromptu happy hour. Here are the best cosy outerwear pieces this season to ensure maximum comfort without forfeiting on style for your winter wardrobe.

Uniqlo Ultra Light Down Jacket - £59.90

Uniqlo is often thrown into the discussion when talking about shielding from the winter cold and this is no exception. This particular model has been popular for many years as the quality far exceeds the price, and now features recycled down, with its sustainability goal to ensure that all jackets feature 100% RDS certified down by the end of 2020. Pictured is the jacket in white, a great way to add a touch of chic to any simple ol’ outfit. Just be wary of wearing it when your Espresso Martini (or Heinz tomato soup) is nearby.

Topshop Faux Fur Hoodie - £35.99

Faux fur is seemingly having a revival. Once associated with Paris Hilton and over the top 90’s dramas, it has found its niche in a more casual fashion environment. This hoodie by Topshop comes in a multitude of colours including cream, green and pink however the blue looks to be the best bet. As part of your winter wardrobe, layered under a similar coloured coat, it’ll ensure a dressed-up vibe whilst also making you feel like you’re being squeezed by one of those giant teddy bears they have outside Hamleys.

Urban Outfitters Slow Down Space-Dye Cardigan - £53.40

Nothing says cosy like a massive cardigan. From grandmas to pro-skaters, patterned cardigans encapsulate all walks of life. From Urban Outfitters’ space-dye collection, this cardigan, described as ‘neutral multi’ features a striped, low-key California tie-dye print adorned with horn buttons. The cardigan could honestly go with anything but due to the pastel colours, I’d recommend pairing them with a pair of loose boyfriend jeans or a corduroy skirt in a similar colour way and makes for a great addition to your winter wardrobe.

J.Crew Classic day coat in Italian double-cloth wool with Thinsulate® - £438.00 (currently 14% Off!)

While I would love to wax poetically about how we can dress how we want in the modern era, sometimes we do have to look like the professional people of before. For that, nothing beats a classic black car coat and very few brands do it better than J.Crew. In a formal black, this coat ticks all the boxes; it has a sharp collar, hits perfectly above the knee and most importantly, is Italian, made by the Manifattura di Carmignano mill. Made exclusively for J.Crew, they have been using this acclaimed Italian mill since 2001, so the quality and comfort is ensured.

Reformation Luisa Cropped Cashmere Sweater - £215

This is a difficult purchase to justify as two hundred pounds seems like quite a lot for a seasonally specific sweater but come on, it’s a cashmere roll neck! Cut slightly short, it ensures a more modern fit while also being incredibly comfortable. My girlfriend owns a similar style jumper from Reformation and loves the fit, as it is boxy and relaxed rather than an outdated skin-tight fit that one usually associates with roll necks.
