5 Most Picturesque Hotels and Spas in the UK

Before the global pandemic, it’s likely that during the previous summer you travelled. Maybe you sampled the finest food Mykonos has to offer, or you trawled the most amazing souk markets in Marrakech. Yes, you may have arrived back home with tales of lazy days by the pool, exciting nights out and a post-holiday glow not even your Glossier Haloscope highlighter can emulate. So with not a lot going on at the moment, I’ve got you covered and have provided a list of the UK’s most luxurious, beautiful places you must visit that will help boost your mood.

The Royal Lancaster London

This beautiful hotel had an £85 million renovation - and it most definitely shows! Whether you’re on a staycation with your beloved or your girlfriends, visiting from abroad or you simply want to escape your cramped flat for an hour or two, The Royal Lancaster has a lot to offer. With the most sublime décor, marble flooring and golden fixtures, you’ll be kicking yourself for not visiting this gem sooner. We’ve all seen our Instagram feeds littered with skyline pictures from The Shard and as beautiful as they are, The Royal Lancaster is hot on the heels on The Shards views with breath-taking panoramic views across London Hyde Park and West London from their deluxe rooms. If you’re in a ‘treat yourself’ type of mood (which we’re all guilty of during this challenging year), book yourself into the Royal Suite, order room service and live your best life (of luxury). If you like the sound of The Royal Lancaster, why not check their website and Instagram (@royallancasterlondon) and see why I’ve selected this particular hotspot.

Seaham Hall Hotel and Spa, County Durham

If you saw Seaham Hotel, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was located in secluded island of Lake Como- but this gem is actually located in a country estate in County Durham. Seaham hotel is historical, dating back to 1791- and was once the home of Lord and Lady Byron (the famous poet). Seaham hotel is also home to the award-winning, renowned The Serenity Spa. Serenity Spa draws influence from far eastern methods of healing and well-being and boasts the best treatments, massage stations, Indian steam rooms, outdoor hot tubs and an infinity pool. The décor of the spa is another amazing element-picture soft purple spotlights, walkways with wooden paths built over manmade streams and ceiling-high Georgian windows. Definitely Instagram worthy. Seaham is also renowned for having one of the most romantic hotel suites in the world. The luxury suite is a grand split-level suite featuring mirrored boudoirs and a bathing deck built for two. Want to send hints to your significant other? I’ve got you covered. Visit www.seaham-hall.co.uk/ for pictures, prices and booking and check out their Instagram (@seahamhall) for more of their beautiful pictures.

Akasha Spa, Café Royal Hotel, London

Although Akasha is located in the heart of Piccadilly, once you leave the bustle and bright lights and enter, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into another world. Akasha spa offers the most luxurious treatments mixing western techniques with ancient Eastern traditions. The spot also boasts a Jacuzzi, Hamman Spa, sauna and a 60ft long lap pool. Dripping in soft lighting, adorned with high ceilings and simplistic décor, no wonder Akasha spa is deemed as one of the most Instagram-worthy spa. Pro-tip: After a day of relaxation and Reiki classes, make sure you visit their lounge bar. The lounge bar is the brainchild of nutritionist Zoe Stirling and Hotel Café Royal's Chef de Cuisine Armand Sablon and their ‘Four Elements’ menu ‘‘incorporates ingredients reflecting the four elements upon which the concept of Akasha is built’’. The Four Elements menu also includes cold-pressed juices, herbal teas and infusions and fresh fruit platters. Soho House, Oxfordshire

If you’re somebody who regularly opens The Daily Mail App and visits other popular culture news sites (guilty!) then chances are, you’ve probably heard of Soho Farmhouse. Owned by Nick Jones- the husband of TV presenter Kirsty Young, Soho Houses’ original home was actually in London before upping sticks to the beautiful countryside location of The Cotswolds. Soho House boasts an impressive celebrity clientele including Victoria and David Beckham, Prince Harry and Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron.

The country hideaway is like no other. Forget having to rent out a random cottage or having to play house in a questionable B&B in a pub- instead think 40 cosy and inviting cabins situated along the banks of a river stream. The cabins vary in size, from studio to three bedroom. Also, if you’re looking for more ‘bricks and mortar’ you have the option of a three-bed cottage and seven bedroom farmhouse. The cabins also come complete with bicycles to take you around the grounds. Cycling not your thing? No worries- you can get around the grounds with chauffeur-driven BMWs.. Soho farmhouse is also complete with its own spa (the renowned Cowshed Spa) and an exclusive Josh Wood Atelier hair salon. The sprawling estate also boasts a hot tubs with an ice room, its own ‘electric barn’ cinema showcasing the latest blockbuster releases, tennis courts and reconditioned milk floats that take you around on a journey to rustic and rural bliss.

Soho House has a range of membership fees according to your needs. You can apply for membership for every Soho House (There are many globally including in LA and NY) and your local/ nearest Soho House. Membership for Soho Farmhouse is £1,400 annually with a one-off registration fee of £500. Soho Farmhouse is also open to non-members, although there are some restrictions (such as higher booking rates and having to submit a reservations form for verification). For more information on membership, prices and booking, visit their website. Their can be found here (@sohofarmhouse). Soho Farmhouse is the A-list answer to Butlin’s and an adult Disneyland of steroids all in one. It’s not only ‘the’ place to be seen, but with the rustic chic cabins and décor straight out of Good Housekeeping your Instagram feed will go from dreary to fabulous- you can thank me later.

The only three in the UK to be exact- Hetling Spring, Cross Spring and The Kings Spring.
