Travel: 5 Places To Spend Your Christmas Holiday 2020
During the winter months of November and December, the tingling thought of planning a winter sun holiday for the Christmas period does not sound like such a bad idea considering how 2020 has been for the majority of us. Watching the excitement on my face as I leave the brisk breeze of the morning frost behind to a few days of indulging in the beautiful sunshine weather and lovely scenery is my idea of perfections.
Thinking about this logically, you need to decide where you want to go, make sure you have enough money saved, pack a bag and head towards that airport where your winter sun Christmas holiday begins. Just for once, let us not think about the big rush of getting a big turkey or wrapping hundreds of presents before the special day approaches.
In our current climate, it is necessary to make this Christmas an exciting one for ourselves as well as our family. A well needed holiday to spend the quality time out of your ordinary routine and being with your loved ones is a blessing to treasure. So why not take a pause on your daily routine, come together and make this Christmas holiday one you will always remember for the year 2020.
Depending on the amount of holiday time booked off from work, here are five places to consider as the idea winter Christmas trip you have been waiting for.
If your feeling in the mood to go somewhere sunny, exotic, tropical, while feeling the grains of sand between your toes, then try your luck of packing a bag and heading on a plane to the tropical islands of Mozambique. A perfect location for the Christmas period approaching us. Who needs cold temperatures running down your spine when you have the glowing sunshine in front of you. And, let us not forget the fun activities to keep you occupied such as snorkelling, swimming, taking a visit to Lake Malawi and enjoying more fun activities like surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding with nothing but the horizon in front of you. While admiring the beautiful colours of the coral reefs, if you’re a big fan of marine life then why not explore the pleasures of scuba diving which can be an exciting experience. Also, in the south of Mozambique, you can explore the beautiful sandy beaches of Bazaruto Archipelago and soak up the rays of sunshine on the incredible beaches of Quirimbas Island.
Ideally, if we were in a Pre-COVID time, I would prefer taking time out for a few days and enjoying the glorious view of Tulum with their white sand beaches of Playa Ruinas and Playa Paraíso (Paradise Beach). Witness the incredible opportunity to enjoy the white sandy beaches, Mayan ruins, and the clear azure blue water of the Caribbean Sea within your sights. Tulum is an absolute treasure which has been a part of my list of countries to visit for a long time.
During Pre-COVID times, the Christmas holiday season is usually jam-packed either with work commitments, being stuck in the kitchen cooking up meals, washing up, and spending time with your family and friends. Let us not forget the wrapping paper and millions of prezzies to buy for your loved ones. But why not change up the routine for this year and escape to the incredible island of Tulum. Check out the collection of wildlife, from monkeys to iguanas at the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, known as one of the world’s eco-tourism places to visit.
If you are feeling adventurous, there are fun activities you can sink your teeth into such as diving, snorkelling through underwater cenotes (underwater sinkholes) which attracts spontaneous and adventurous tourists each year. Tulum sounds like a dream, a treasure to visit and a destination to never forget.
Agadir sounds like a place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful sunshine - something we have all been craving this year. It is still one of those destinations I would like venture to one of these days, hopefully, once the UK is out of Lockdown, so that I can make this trip a reality instead of it being nothing but a daydream.
Agadir is a hotspot place with a variety of shops, great cafes and restaurants in Agadir Marina where they serve multiple cuisines for people from different cultures who are in the mood to expand their palette from Chinese, Italian, and Spanish cuisines. There are also a variety of activities to choose from such as hiking in the mountains, surfing, whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery of the beachfront.
If you are in the mood for more adventure, then step outside of Agadir to Paradise Valley in Tamraght River Valley and try your luck at cliff diving into natural pools. It is a quiet city which is both loved and visited by many tourists from all over the world.
Refresh your Christmas holiday season by taking a trip to the country known as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”. Explore the history of the beautiful island, the different cultures, blue skies, incredible white sandy beaches, the pleasures of swimming with dolphins, hiking, and snorkelling through the vibrant colours of the coral reefs. Mauritius is certainly a place to try a variety of cuisines from French cuisines to the tasty spices of Indian curries. With its gorgeous sunny temperatures, incredible tropical forests, it has some of the the most luxurious, finest staycation hotels. This exotic island Mauritius is the ultimate treat of destinations for a Christmas holiday of relaxation, while taking time to reflect and explore while not being so far away from the jaw-dropping scenery of The Maldives and Seychelles.
Going on an exotic trip to the beautiful Caribbean islands would end my year of 2020 perfectly, just in time to start the new year on a high with new opportunities and potential possibilities waiting for me in the near future.
Experience the stunning scenery of the aqua blue sea, palm trees, various beautiful luxurious hotel resorts on offer. Known as “Little England” for keeping up with the English traditions of afternoon tea and the national sport of cricket, Barbados is the place to relax, enjoy the sunshine, and various festivals and activities which will keep you entertained just in time for Christmas. Visit the island’s stunning capital Bridgetown with its white sandy beaches, check out the fantastic nightlife in Saint Lawrence Gap and get to know the locals, or take a trip to Oistins to be blown away by the delicious seafood. This glorious, beautiful island has everything you can ask for, but importantly it makes for a special treat for Christmas that both you and your family can enjoy.
